The
Return

Ninety seconds back to yourself. For the moment you've already left — and you're about to make a decision from out there.

“You don't need to fix what you're feeling before you can listen. You only need to come back far enough to hear.”

Ninety seconds

You've left. Let's bring you back.

Eight beats, timed for you. Nothing to type, nothing to read ahead. Put the phone down between your hands and let it lead.

Sound off. Somewhere you can be for a minute and a half.

You're back

Something is different than it was ninety seconds ago. Where do you notice it?

When to use this

Not once a day. The moment you notice.

Before you send the message you wrote while angry.

You'll still be able to send it. You'll just be the one choosing, instead of the charge choosing.

In the car, before you walk in the door.

So the day doesn't get carried inside and handed to people who weren't there for it.

When you've read the same paragraph four times.

That's not a focus problem. You've left, and nobody told you.

Between a hard call and the next one.

Observe without absorbing. Ninety seconds is usually the difference.

At eleven at night, when the old story arrives on schedule.

You're not going to out-think it at that hour. You can come back to your body.

Right before you decide something that matters.

Never make the call from out there. Get back first, then look at it again.

“The people who hold their center under pressure
aren't performing. They're practiced.

You can't build this in the moment you need it. You build it in the ninety seconds you didn't think you had time for — so that when something hard hits, you come back faster than anyone in the room.

Work With Me

If ninety seconds keeps not being enough, there's more underneath it. The Garbage Dump goes further.
